All the columns are customizable and you can move them around as you wish.

When you click on the title of a column, you can choose “Edit property”, and change the functionality and content of it; there are a lot of options. We’ve come up with some examples as to how you could fill out your database.

Where do I put PDFs?

• Have a look in the database on the page Arab Spring Farthest to the right side of the database, there’s a column called “Course material”.
• That functionality (in Notion called “property”) is “Files & media”, and here you can insert relevant material. In this exercise we’ve inserted a PDF that is embedded in the page Arab Spring, when you open it.
• If you want your PDF open and read it directly in notion, you can embed it by clicking on your page, write a slash / and click on “Embed”.

Images and captions

To insert an image, write slash / og choose “Image”, where you get the choice of uploading and embedding images. You can also use the Notion image base, which is linked to Unsplash and their database of free-to-use images.

If you hover your cursor in the upper right corner of the image, you can write a caption (like this one) by clicking on “Caption”. You can also resize the image to your liking. If you click on the speech bubble next to “Caption”, you can write a comment, that will appear in the right margin of the page.
